About Paula Dunleavy
I began practising acupuncture in Oxfordshire in 1994. I have lived in Chipping Norton since 2006 and have had my own clinic in the town since 1997.
I originally trained as a dentist at Kings College Hospital Dental School in London from 1970 to 1975 and practised as a dentist for 20 years prior to training as an acupuncturist. My years of dental training and medical experience mean that I have an in depth knowledge of medical conditions, terminology and pharmacology.
I studied 5 Element Acupuncture at the College of Traditional Acupuncture in Leamington Spa for 3 years from 1992 to 1995. Following graduation I became a member of the faculty and taught at the College for 5 years.
I also completed a 2 year postgraduate course in TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) at the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine in Reading between 1997 and 1999.
I have been in professional supervision for 15 years and am a trained supervisor and mentor.
I regularly attend postgraduate courses on topics such as:
- Obstetrics and Gynaecology
- Infertility
- Acupuncture and IVF
- Cancer
- Multiple Sclerosis
- Musculo-Skeletal Problems
- Facial Cosmetic Acupuncture
I am a member of the Association of Clinical Acupuncturists (ACC) which registers and insures suitably qualified acupuncturists. The ACC oversees and monitors acupuncture training in the UK and has a strict Code of Practice and Ethics for its Members. Acupuncturists are required to undertake Continuing Professional Development, which is reviewed annually, as a condition of their membership.
